Stockville is located 30 miles south west of Ely on U.S. 6. Stockville is located on a private ranch owned by Charlie Brown and is not accessible to the public.

Stockville was originally one of the many C.W. Mathewson ranches and was established in the early 1870's. During an oral interview with Lois Jurey on July 12, 2003, she stated she lived at Stockville when it was part of the Gardner Ranches.

A post office was located at Stockville August 27, 1896. George R. Haydon was the only postmaster during the brief span the post office was in operation. Stockville was a shipping point for the White River ranches. Although the post office remained a prominent freight shipping point, the post office was closed January 7, 1899 and the mail for its former patrons was sent to Hamilton. There was a twice-weekly stage run between Stockville and Hamilton during the early 1900's. Stockville was located 32 miles south east of Hamilton and the stage had few travelers. It served more as a produce line from the ranches to serve the miners in the Hamilton area. When the Hamilton boom collapsed, Stockville lost much of its importance although a small ranch continues at the site. Several of the original buildings remain at the site.
